We never think that when we put our babies to sleep at night in their cribs, that we may have reasons to be concerned. However, there are several baby crib dangers that may never cross our minds. The following paragraphs will inform you of a few of these dangers you may want to keep in mind.
Most baby cribs are designed with wooden or medal bars up and down both sides, so that the baby can easily see outside of his crib. Different styles of cribs have these bars spaced differently. It is every easy for your baby to get his arm or leg stuck in between two of these bars, possibly breaking or injuring a bone. One way parents try to prevent this is by using bumper pads to line the inside of the crib all the way around.

While sometimes these crib pads are effective, sometimes they are not. It is very easy for a baby to wiggle his arm or leg underneath these bumper pads, especially if they are restless sleepers. It is very important to monitor your baby closely in a crib because this is only one of the dangers.
Another one of the many baby crib dangers mostly applies to older babies, who can already stand and walk. Some of the time, when it comes to baby crib designs, the two shorter ends are higher up than the two longer sides. When a baby learns to stand and walk, they will often pile up their stuff animals or blankets, and flip themselves over the shorter sides. This can be a great danger.
In order to prevent an accident like this from occurring, or to help eliminate the danger all together, do not allow your baby to have too many stuff animals in their cribs. A few small ones may be okay, but the bigger ones will make it more possible for them to injure themselves. If you are going to let your baby hang out in his crib when he is not sleeping, it is a good idea to remove any pillow or blankets, as well.
Lastly, the last baby crib dangers we will discuss is when older babies are too rough with their cribs. If they bounce back and forth from side to side, or shake the sides when they wake up and want attention, it can cause bolts to come loose. When bolts come loose, the crib can be dangerous in many, many ways.
Baby crib dangers do exist, even we sometimes fail to recognize them. These are only some of the many dangers that exist when it come to baby cribs.
