When someone is planning to decorate a nursery for a new baby, they should take into account all of the furniture that is considered not only necessary but also extremely helpful for caring and organizing for a new baby.
The first and quite possibly the most important step is to set out, do research and find a safe crib for the new baby, make sure to check manufacturers and government recalls to help ensure the crib you have chosen does not have a history of any possible safety hazards.

Another important piece of furniture for a nursery would be a sturdy changing table. Having a separate place to change the baby is crucial for keeping the nursery clean, especially in the middle of the night when you do not have to worry about cleaning up a mess and changing sheets. Make sure the changing table is sturdy enough to handle a larger baby who kicks and throws his or her weight around. Lots of new parents enjoy having a rocker or glider chair for the nursery to use during feedings or times when the baby may need to be rocked to sleep.
A dresser of some kind is also necessary for organizing the babies clothing and accessories. Most parents will have a baby shower or receive gifts of some sort for the new baby; typically they will receive clothing of many sizes for the first year or so of the baby's life.
After the furniture is chosen the parents need to ensure that all the proper baby safety measures have been taken, such as outlet covers for electrical outlets, cord keepers for cord belonging to blinds, bumpers, guards and baby gates.
Another important measure to take with a nursery if making sure that all of the hanging decorations are secure and that any décor on tables in far enough away from the crib and changing table that the baby could not risk getting a hold of it and harming itself with it. Make sure the baby's crib is not directly under a vent and is not in front of a window, to help prevent a draft making the baby to cold during the night.
Once all of the furniture is acquired, in place and all of the proper safety measures have been taken the parents can relax and prepare for the arrival of their new wonderful bundle of joy!
